The Big Chemistry Secret - Presenting chemistry to young children with the periodic table

: presented by Teresa Bondera founder of
www.howtoteachscience.com
Chemistry is easy. It shouldn’t scare teachers, parents or children. But schools withhold it from our kids and spring it on them in an intimidating manner, late in the game. In reality, the periodic table should be on the walls as soon as we put maps on the wall. This gives our children familiarity with the table and removes fear of the unknown. Teresa answers those questions we all have like why the table looks like that and how it works. When people walk away from this workshop, they will be happy and amazed to find that the periodic table is an easy and fun way to introduce our children to chemistry early!
Learning in Spite of Labels

Presented by Christi Irwin (Joyce Herzog Learning Products)

25 tips on how to teach to your child’s abilities, rather than the recommended level.

Teaching Math Effectively in the Home School

Presented by Jim Angle (Math-U-See)

"I wish I would have been taught this way", is the comment we receive about Math-U-See most often. Why? Parents using Math-U-See are understanding math concepts which they only memorized and promptly forgot in their youth. Memorization does not equate to learning. Frustrated parents and students come to our program and see concretely each concept before they are asked to perform abstract problems built on the same principles.

This low-cost, popular, video-based curriculum works! Video segments are short but informative. (15 min - 25 min per week) (Now available in DVD!) Manipulatives are used to teach the new concepts. Tests in the high school level are written in the format of the ACT. Help by phone and/or email is available.

The workshop will give an overview of K-12 math concepts with an emphasis on grades K-9. The information you will gain from this workshop will help you teach math with any curriculum you choose to use for your child. Come "SEE" and relearn math for the benefit of your children. Free demonstration video and a manipulative sample are available.
