Text Box: Orientation Meetings
By Julie Riddle

Interest in home education is at a peak right now. We had seven or eight new home educators at our meeting in September. The switch to Davis-Kidd (6:00 p.m., 2nd Tuesday of each month) has been a good one. The meetings are much more relaxed and informal, plus I don't mind staying as long as necessary to get all questions answered.
Many of the moms have been staying after the orientation to meet other home educators at our Spirit Builder’s meetings. If you have not had a chance to attend yet, mark your calendar now for the 2nd Tuesday in November at 7:00 p.m. It is a wonderful time of talking (not necessarily homeschool related), idea sharing, and renewing of the spirit…not to mention that the food from the cafe is delicious.
Spread the word, home education orientation/information meetings at Davis-Kidd in the cafe every 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. to be followed by Spiritbuilders in the back conference room. I always welcome the experience of other veterans, especially those teaching high school. If you attend in October be on the look out for our beautiful NHE banner drawn by Kittia Broadus and Danielle Riddle. Thanks girls, you did a wonderful job.

See you at Davis-Kidd

Four members of the Madison County HomeSchool 4H Club

took part in 4H Day at the Mid South Fair on September 20th.

Andrew Thauer and Gabriel Appleton both competed in BB gun target competition.

Sarah Appleton and Holly Beverly joined two other Madison County 4H members to form an interior design judging team.

Their team placed first in the competition against a total of six states.

Congratulations!!

Dear fellow NHE-ers…..

With the understanding that it is going to take time for us all to adjust to the new format of the newsletter, in the long run it is going to be much more accessible and easier for all of us.  There are so many benefits that will go along with an E-Newsletter.  I will try to list a few of things that will make it better and more functional for all NHE members, new and old! This is just a list of the top 10 I can think of right now!

1.      It is going to be less stress on the Newsletter editor!  J

2.      You can STILL print the Newsletter!

3.      Time and cost will be greatly reduced!

4.      The Newsletter will be accessible to you any time you get on the computer

5.      A Calendar right on the website!

6.      You can email people directly from the E-Newsletter

7.      We can make quick changes thru-out the month if needed

8.      The new “Loop Forum” has many more functions

9.      The Loop Forum will be “safer”

10.  Each family can have their very own NetworkofHomeEducation.net email address!

Please feel free to call or email Bob or Phyllis with questions, concerns and/or problems you may be having with accessing the Website as well as “getting to” the Newsletter. There are adjustments being made daily to make this EASY for you to get to and as “aggravation-free” as possible. We can not help you out unless we know you need our help. And we will help you ASAP I assure you!!!

If you have an idea that might make something easier for everyone, let us know and we will give it a try as well.  We really do want this website/Newsletter/forum, something that is informative, interesting fun and definitely USABLE!!!
